2007 Student Paper Competition

The UW-Madison Spatial Information and Analysis Consortium invites students at all levels to participate in our spring 2007 Student Paper Competition. Presentations may be on any topic involving Geographic Information Systems, cartography, GPS, remote sensing, surveying, and closely related geospatial technologies.

Qualification: UW-Madison students at any level (grad or undergrad)

How to Participate:  Send an abstract (500 words max) in MS Word or PDF format to Jim Lacy.

Abstracts Due: Friday, February 23, 2007, 12:00 noon

Process and Evaluation:
There are two rounds of evaluation: abstracts, and then presentations. In the first round, a committee will evaluate the abstracts and identify five students to proceed into the second round. All authors will be informed of the first round results on Friday, March 2.

During the second round, the author of each selected abstract will present a 30-minute talk as part of the SIAC lecture series. Student presentations will begin the week of April 16 and continue through May 4. All presentations will be judged by a faculty committee in terms of the quality of research, and presentation effectiveness.

Awards: The three best presentations will each receive a SIAC Best Student Paper certificate, and a cash award! (First place = $100, second place = $75, and third place = $50).
